

GRADER TRAINING COURSE OUTLINE
SUBJECT & LEARNING OUTCOMES
This module will provide you with the basic skills, knowledge and information to safely operate a Grader.
Participants will be able to:
- Operate a Grader safely to the RIIMPO310A Conduct Grader Operations & OR the RIIMPO324A Conduct Civil Construction Grader Operations level
- Set Correct Position and blade height
- Spread heaps and level material
- Maintain level floor and spillage clean up
- Build safety windrow
- Grader position on ramps
- Use wheel lean appropriately
- Cut and fill as required
- Use basic cuts to form roads
COURSE DETAILS
- Introduction
- Relevant Australian Standards, Legislation and Regulations
- OHS policy
- Codes of Practice
- Manufacturers’ specifications and instructions
- Risk assessment and hazards
- Grader attachments
- Conduct routine checks and plan work
- Safe Operations
- Shift load
- Shut down equipment and secure site
The following conditions are not requirements for our course but do apply to most construction & mine sites:
- "HR" Class Licence
- Drug & Alcohol test (at point of interview)
- Police Clearance
Training conditions are simulated to a mining/civil work environment in which:
- Steel capped safety footwear and suitable clothing are essential
- Sunscreen is advisable
- Hardhats and vests are provided
- Course manual, notepads, etc are provided
Assessment methods are of written, theory and practical observation. Therefore if you have any literacy problems please advise ACMT Operator Training Staff at the point of Application.
Favourable assessment outcomes from this training result in a Statement of Attainment.
COURSE DURATION
- 4 hours for experienced operators, assessment* only, must supply work history
* Assessments conducted on site
CERTIFICATION
On successful completion you will be issued with a Notice of Satisfactory Assessment, Statement of Attainment and a wallet sized plastic card stating the unit achieved.
